Help CVA Rewild Fifth Creek (South Australia) in 2025

Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) invites everyone to get involved in helping to rewild Fifth Creek in South Australia.

CVA is working on a 3-year habitat reconstruction project to rewild and restore this small stream and surrounding area, along with our partners at Campbelltown City Council and many volunteers. The project aims to transform this important urban waterway by removing invasive weeds and by planting thousands of native plant species.

This exciting urban restoration project aims to turn Fifth Creek into a green, biodiverse, and climate-resilient waterway, providing multiple benefits for both people and nature. The project will also help reconnect local communities with nature and build a thriving future for the local environment.

Find out more below about how you can get involved in volunteering to help us restore and rewild Fifth Creek.

Reasons to rewild Fifth Creek

Fifth Creek is a vital waterway in South Australia that stretches from the Black Hill Conservation Park to the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari in the Campbelltown Council area.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.

Our Rewilding Fifth Creek project aims to create a 2.2-kilometer corridor of native habitat, which will not only boost water quality but also create a safe haven for wildlife.

Located in the heart of Adelaide, this project is important because it helps provide habitat for urban wildlife and biodiversity, while also helping the city mitigate the impacts of climate change and build resilience to future climate-related changes.
