Celebrate Community Days with CVA in 2025

Conservation Volunteers Australia is celebrating Community Days in 2025, which are volunteering events designed to give everyone the opportunity to experience being a conservation volunteer. These are events aimed at getting local communities involved in conservation activities near to where they live, as well as stakeholders, partners and also corporates interested in supporting our conservation work.

In 2025, we’ve hosted several Community Days already, with more planned. Some of the impacts we’ve already achieved include conducting a bird survey and removing 650 square metres of weeds at Goulds Lagoon in Hobart, propagating over 100 plants to help restore the wetlands at Tannum Sands, and weeding and watering at Point Walter in Perth.

Find out more below about how to join our upcoming Community Day event to rewild Fifth Creek on April 30th.

Rewilding Fifth Creek Community Planting Day in Adelaide

Join CVA on the 30th April at 9am to rewilding Fifth Creek! We are very excited about working with the Campbelltown City Council over the next three years to create a corridor of vegetation from the Hills to the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari.

We’ll be planting the first of the 3500 seedlings that will be put into the ground at Fifth Creek this year. This includes a selection of ground-level flowering native species to help build back biodiversity and create a special space for people to enjoy and for nature and wildlife to flourish.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.

Book your spot at this volunteering event today to avoid disappointment, as spaces are limited!

Community Days We’ve Already Celebrated in 2025

Between January and April 2025, Conservation Volunteers Australia has already held three Community Day events:

1.    14th March at Point Walter, Perth

To celebrate International Day of Action for Rivers, this event was powered by 27 volunteer hours which helped with site weeding and watering in collaboration with the Bicton Environmental Action Group.

2.    25th March at Goulds Lagoon, Hobart

This conservation volunteering event was powered by 27 volunteer hours, in collaboration with the Pacific Black Duck Conservation Group. Together we conducted a bird survey and removed 650m2 of weeds to help restore this wetland habitat and important bird and wildlife area.

3.    8th April CVA Community Day at Oaks Road Wetland in Gladstone

This event was created to plant local wetland species, remove invasive weed species, and conduct flora and fauna surveys – all aimed at improving this wonderful local wetland.

As part of the Revive our Wetlands project, powered by Conservation Volunteers Australia in partnership with Chevron Australia, this event was held in partnership with Gladstone Regional Council at the Oaks Road Wetland at Tannum Sands.

This Community Day event was powered by 12 volunteer hours, resulting in the collection of native seeds and the propagation of over 100 plants to revegetate this wetland area.
