Bringing Back the Bush (Gladstone, QLD)

Take action for our local wildlife and nature with CVA! We know why having diverse and healthy habitat is important so join us while we make a real difference and give nature a hand!

Oaks Rd Wetland located at Canoe Point is a critical area of vegetation that provides refuge for local native animals such as gliders, kangaroos, sea turtles and birdlife as well as reducing coastal erosion along the tidal Boyne River. Big rain events in the past have caused loss of sand dunes and habitat along Canoe Point, our actions aim to strengthen the vegetation and keep this site special for generations to come.

Through our community events you will learn important bush regeneration skills, learn about our local native flora and fauna, and meet fantastic people who feel connected to nature, just like you!

There are activities for everyone to try and we also have guest speakers and experts to help you feel inspired to take action for nature too.

Come down and get involved at Canoe Point with:

– Wetland planting and maintenance activities to support native seedlings and biodiversity.

– Weeding on invasive plants and other wetland rehabilitation activities.

– Plant nursery skills with our friends at Gladstone Regional Council

– Learn about your local wetland through educational sessions and expert talks.

This project wouldn’t be possible without the support of many local groups and organisations as well as Chevron Australia who provided funding for the Revive our Wetlands project at 10 wetlands all over Australia.
