With on-going care, the Blue Gums we put in will be big feature trees, providing shade and shelter. The Coastal Spear Grass and Coastal Tussock Grass will create a ground cover and habitat and food for wildlife. The Silver Banksias we planted here will grow into large shrubs, providing cover and nectar for birds. Help us make this vision come true and volunteer at our event, where we’ll be pulling weeds, checking on our plants, and maybe even removing a few tree guards if the plants have grown well.

Date: 20 May 2025

Time: 9am

Join us at Londonderry Woodland Reserve for an immersive experience that combines environmental stewardship with personal wellness. This event provides you the opportunity to take direct action for nature, by removing the biggest threat to the rare and threatened plants and animals that call this place home – weed invasion. In doing so you will be protecting one of Australia’s most endangered places, whilst also nurturing your own wellbeing. Along the way you will have the opportunity to encounter a bounty of native wildlife, including frogs, lizards, snakes, kangaroos, and up to 100 different bird species.

Every corner of Londonderry Woodland tells a story of resilience and interconnectedness, with a vibrant understorey of rare herbs, orchids, and grasses bursting into a kaleidoscope of colour throughout the seasons. Activities include weed removal and monitoring threatened species, whilst honouring the “Caring for Country” practices of the Dharug Traditional Owners. This project is proudly supported by the NSW Government’s Saving Our Species Program.

Rewilding Fifth Creek – Site Preparation Working Bee, Fifth Creek – Heather Court

Date: 5 February 2025

Time: 9.00am

We are rewilding Fifth Creek! CVA is very excited to work with the Campbelltown City Council over the next three years to create a corridor of vegetation from the Hills to the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari. Please join us to get things started by spreading some mulch at our very first site. The mulch will help to suppress weeds and conserve moisture in the soil ready for planting in winter. This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.
