Building Climate Resilience Together: Highlights from CVA’s 2025 Season of Action

At Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA), we believe that the path to climate resilience begins with hands-on action. This past season, thousands of volunteers, partners, and community groups came together to restore ecosystems, strengthen biodiversity, and build hope for the future.

Our Climate Resilience & Adaptation Season 2025 was a powerful reminder that when people unite for nature, big change is possible.

Our Collective Impact

  • 20,810 native plants installed across urban and natural landscapes.
  • 142,415 m² of invasive weeds removed to give native ecosystems room to thrive.
  • 1,629 volunteers joined us at events nationwide, contributing 5,721+ hours of time and care for nature.
  • Partnerships with 74 community groups, 13 First Nations–owned businesses, and multiple local councils strengthened local capacity for conservation.

Together, we built stronger ecosystems, from wetlands and grasslands to coastlines and cities, helping communities adapt to a changing climate.

Strengthening Partnerships and Inclusion

This season also marked progress on our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), conditionally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. We’ve expanded partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and exceeded procurement targets with First Nations–owned businesses.

As our CEO, Phil Harrison, said:

“By volunteering during our season of action for climate resilience and adaptation, you’re helping restore natural systems that buffer us from climate impacts. Together, we’re strengthening communities and ecosystems to face a changing climate with hope and purpose.”

What’s Next?

Looking ahead, we’re turning our focus to Threatened Species and Biodiversity. From Eastern Barred Bandicoots and Glossy Black Cockatoos, to Water Mouse and many more species, we’ll continue to safeguard Australia’s unique wildlife while restoring vital habitats.

And you can be part of it. Whether by planting a tree, joining a local project, or supporting our Eastern Barred Bandicoot fundraiser, every action counts.

🌿 Thank you to every volunteer, partner, and supporter who made this season a success. Together, we are building resilience — for nature, for people, and for the future we share.
