Because Australia’s unique species and places urgently need our help.

Protecting futures of threatened species

Our goal is to improve the outlook of threatened species and places through projects that give people great opportunities to care for nature.

Australia holds the unenviable record for the largest number of mammal and bird extinctions in the world, with other wildlife and many native plants still facing significant pressures from a range of threats. We work with threatened species experts and Recovery Teams to provide community-based solutions to the challenges faced by native plants and animals across Australia.

Wild Futures projects

  • Habitat protection for the critically endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoot
  • Predator reduction for the endangered Spotted Tree Frog
  • Food and shelter tree re-establishment for NSW and Queensland Koalas
  • Removal and replacement of toxic climbing vines to protect the Richmond Birdwing butterfly
  • Landscape-scale restoration for threatened ecological communities like the critically endangered Lowland Rainforest of Subtropical Australia
