Virginia is legally qualified, with over 20 years of communications and government relations experience across the corporate, government and private sectors. In addition, with her family she has been involved in running an integrated waste management and recycling business based in regional Victoria. It was this experience of rural living and gaining a deeper understanding of some of the environmental challenges our country faces that saw Virginia become involved in grass-roots sustainability and landcare groups, as well as appointments to Catchment Management Authority Boards.

Virginia has been a Member of the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority and the Port Philip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority Boards. Along with the Board of Tennis Victoria. She is President of the Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater Inc, a group committed to saving Victoria’s critically endangered State bird emblem, along with involvement in other grass roots local environment groups.

At Conservation Volunteers Australia Virginia is committed to ensuring strong board governance along with focus on strategic priorities in a challenging environment. She is also the Chair of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee. She is passionate about nature and helping people to develop meaningful connections with our natural environment.
