A Cooler Climate for Moreton Bay!

SEQ is well known for its beautiful beaches, rainforests, and climate. With over 2400+ species of Fauna and 6000+ species of flora living within its various ecosystems, every bit of help possible is required to maintain the delicate balance our environment requires.

CVA is committed to doing what we can to help these incredibly important areas through our national Revive Our Wetlands Campaign here in Brisbane.

Through our partnerships we have events running on a regular basis in Brisbane and Moreton Bay. Come along to events focused on helping sensitive areas such as the RAMSAR listed Melaleuca and Mangrove Wetlands of Coochiemudlo Island while also exploring and learning about the important role the play the larger marine environments of the Brisbane River and Moreton Bay.

As our climate changes dramatically due to various causes of climate change, wetlands are playing a large part in helping maintain the coastal areas in which we live, work and play. Able to capture carbon 40 times more efficiently than regular forests while protecting our homes from constantly increasing tides and storm surges, they do need our help.

Impacted by land clearing, exotic weeds and feral animals our precious wetland areas are in a constant battle for their survival. Join us to lend a helping hand to these amazing areas that countless numbers of species rely on to live. Come along to our events May through to July in Moreton Bay and help give back to these wetland areas.

Can’t attend events on the ground?

We know that it’s not always easy to find time to volunteer with us, so we’ve created ways for people to take action anywhere, anytime. Everyone can take part and help build resilience and adaptation to climate change!

Take action from home with our two app-led activities available on our CVA Community app:

  • Contribute to cooling your neighbourhood by planting climate-resilient native species in your backyard or on your balcony with Nature Blocks.
  • Lower your household carbon footprint by participating in the SeaToSource Plastic Waste Challenge and cutting back on your consumption of fossil fuel-based plastics.
