Conservation Volunteers Australia, Tweed Shire Council and Department of Primary Industries are partnering for the Cudgen Tilapia Buster event with support from Frogley’s Offshore, OzFish and Ballina Bait and Tackle.

What to bring: BYO fishing gear and sun protection
The event will be located at 38 Cabarita Road, Bogangar and will include fishing for Tilapia – a invasive pest fish species – from the riverbank (BYO fishing gear), Tilapia weigh-ins and prizes. To be eligible for prizes you need to register at the Conservation Volunteers table between 9am – 3pm. After registration you will receive a free brag-mat, wristband and pest fish ID card and prizes will be drawn at the close of competition at 3pm.
The Cudgen Tilapia Buster is the final event in our Northern Coastal Rivers Pest Fish Force project, which has run over 2 years with the aim of increasing community knowledge the pest fish species invading our waterways and what we can do to help control them, from responsible disposal to sustainable use of pest fish in cooking and other applications.
