Nature-lovers can now experience Australia and New Zealand’s distinctive and diverse natural environments while undertaking conservation activities as part of the Destination Conservation Experiences program.
Nature-based tourism makes a major contribution to more sustainable and resilient regions, while enhancing participants environmental understanding and appreciation. In response, Conservation Volunteers has developed immersive experiences in nature that appeal to both international and domestic travelers who want to make a difference.
Conservation Volunteers is offering 5-day and multi-week experiences at stunning locations across Australia and New Zealand. By joining a Destination Conservation Experience you will help protect habitat and conserve incredible and unique wildlife in special places such as National Parks and World Heritage Areas, while exploring a variety of natural attractions.
Yesterday Conservation Volunteers CEO Phil Harrison joined Sarah Henderson MP (Federal Member for Corangamite) in launching the program to coincide with the departure of the inaugural Destination Conservation Experience on the Great Ocean Road.
“Our Destination Conservation Experiences offer a combination of volunteering and tourism, allowing people to explore new sites whilst giving back to the environment and the communities they are staying in. From the Great Ocean Road in Australia to the Paparoa National Park in Punakaiki, New Zealand, you will have the opportunity to explore places that no other touring groups can offer.” Phil Harrison, CEO
Destination Conservation Experiences are currently available in Victoria, Queensland Wet Tropics, South East Queensland and the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand.
