Introducing a new Season of Action: Sea The Change

Welcome to the first edition of our 2024 newsletter! We’re absolutely thrilled to have you here and on board to see all the incredible work that our volunteers and partners are doing across Australia.

With the dawn of a new year, we’re equally excited to launch a fresh Season of Action at CVA: Sea the Change. CVA is Australia’s leading conservation organisation, empowering people to take action for nature since 1982. We aim to optimise our efforts and actions for nature by basing them around three distinctive pillars throughout the year.

Our season of action for Ocean, Wetlands and Rivers and under the banner of Sea the Change, we are working with key partners and communities to not only remove harmful plastic pollution, but to highlight and influence the behaviours and systems that allow it to become a problem in the first place.

See all our projects.

You’re invited to the launch of World Ocean Day Down Under!

CVA is thrilled to be World Ocean Day’s first official “National Partner”. Together, we’re marking the beginning of the inaugural World Ocean Day Down Under.

We will be organising a beach clean-up at Nudgee Beach, QLD, on January 24 (9:15 AM). We invite you to explore the beach and nearby RAMSAR listed wetlands whilst we collect and record rubbish. This effort contributes to the CSIRO’s Global Plastic Pollution Project. Following our clean-up, we invite everyone to join us for a BBQ in the park! Join us

Join a full season of Actions for Nature!

From January to March 2024, we’ll be empowering volunteers throughout Australia in our commitment to:

  • Help remove rubbish from entering the environment.
  • Continue to work with CSIRO to expand their National Plastic Pollution Baseline Survey across the country.
  • Improve biodiversity, climate resilience, blue carbon storage potential, and habitat for our hero species on 14 wetlands in 6 capital cities and 3 regional centres.
  • Work alongside and supporting 80 community “care” and First Nations groups to catalyse action for ocean, wetlands and rivers.

The future of Australia’s ocean, wetlands and rivers is in our hands. Help stop litter at its source.
