Delivering progress to bring communities and nature closer together with Kuehne+Nagel

With forecasts that there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050, the need to take action at all levels of business, government and community is well understood.

The opportunity to contribute to tackling the ocean litter problem through supporting #SeaToSource, a Conservation Volunteers Australia project which is growing in momentum and impact across Australia, is one we’re delighted Kuehne+Nagel will be partnering with us on.

Kuehne+Nagel strive to have a positive impact on the world by working towards sustainable logistics. The Kuehne+Nagel Net Zero Carbon initiative has achieved carbon neutrality for their operations as of 2020, and they aim to achieve carbon neutrality for suppliers’ and customers’ footprint by 2030.

Kuehne+Nagel are celebrating 50 years of operations in Australia this year, and are committed to the communities and landscapes that they operate in, and to mark this commitment will be encouraging employees from across the business to spend time volunteering to tackle ocean litter and protect the Great Southern Reef through #SeaToSource.

Kuehne+Nagel employees will also be entering teams in Conservation Volunteers Australia’s Corporate Challenge Series, a national event calendar which enables businesses around Australia to get together and take practical action to celebrate major environmental dates – such as World Environment Day on 5th June and World Habitat Day on 7th October 2021.

Kuehne+Nagel Australia Managing Director, Bjoern Johansson said the announcement of the new partnership with CVA is an important step in Kuehne+Nagel’s mission of striving for a sustainable future in Australia.

“We are committed to actively contributing to the well-being of communities and the environment, while connecting people and goods through innovative and sustainable business solutions.

Our partnership with CVA commemorates 50 strong years of business in Australia and marks the commencement of a long term sustainability partnership. We all have a responsibility to reduce our environmental impact, and as part of our commitment we are delighted to partner with CVA”

– Bjoern Johansson, Managing Director, Kuehne+Nagel Australia

Delivering on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 – Good Health & Well-being, 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, 14 – Life Below Water and 17 – Partnership For The Goals, this partnership is set to deliver progress for communities and nature alike, and is testament to how the business and community sector can work together to create mutual value to strengthen communities and resilient ecosystems.

“We’re delighted to form a new partnership with Kuehne+Nagel, a global pioneer in the logistics industry with their Net Zero Carbon programme. Together we will make a real impact for nature and people, as well as aligning with Kuehne+Nagel’s sustainability goals in their 50th year of operations in Australia.”

– Geraldine Rep, Strategic Partnerships Director, CVA

We look forward to working together in the coming months and years, to make a difference for life above and below water through #SeaToSource in locations around Australia.
