Life below the waves is being threatened by one of our most solvable global issues – ocean litter.

Now is your chance to get together with your colleagues and make a difference for our ocean, wetland and costal habitats to ensure that marine wildlife can thrive! Get involved in our latest Corporate Challenge Series event to help collect and sort ocean litter across the country with your own hands.

You and your team will work together and compete against other corporates to collect as much litter as possible during the event. Teams will join our Revive ocean litter reduction experts and will be provided with all the tools and materials to remove as much ocean litter as possible over three hours. It’s a great way to connect and make a difference for our precious marine neighbours.

This is the final event in our Corporate Challenge Series for 2021 and will take place on Friday 3rd December in celebration of International Volunteering Day.

International Volunteering Day is a unique chance for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, government authorities and the private sector.

Did you know that the equivalent of one rubbish truck full of plastic enters the ocean every minute?! Well your efforts will support the excellent work our #SeaToSource project has already achieved in 2020-21.

This challenge contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) 3, 13, 14, 17.

Corporate teams of up to 10 participants will take part in capital cities around the country to collect and sort as much litter as possible on the same day. Spaces are limited so register your interest below to secure your team’s place.

There is a $3,000+GST registration fee per team and each organisation will only be allowed to enter one team per location – check the table below for more information.

Below are some useful steps to help guide you through the registration process:

  1. Select your location of interest and click the ‘Register Now’ button. You will be redirected to the sign in page.
  2. Before you can access the event registration page, you will be required to sign up or log in to our volunteering portal
  3. Once you’ve signed in you will be redirected to the event group registration form.
  4. Fill out your name and your organisation details and the partnerships team will be in touch to facilitate the invoicing process. and share the registration link for your team.
  5. Once your invoice has been processed a registration link will be provided for you to share with up to 10 participants from your organisation.

Please note only one representative from each location and organisation needs to fill out the form. If you are interested in participating in multiple locations, please complete a form for each location.

 

Event Format

Here is a sneak peek into what will be involved on the day. Each event will be run slightly differently but will follow a similar timeline.

9:30am onwards: Participants start arriving to check-in
10am-12:30pm: Induction, safety briefing, site induction, equipment provided & litter collection commences
12:30 – 1pm: Lunch provided, and local winner announced
1pm: Event concludes

 

Event Requirements

Please note that in line with current government regulations, challenge participants will be required to be fully vaccinated to participate in event locations in Victoria and NSW unless you have a medical exemption.

Please ensure you have proof of vaccination to present on the day and if participants are not fully vaccinated where required, they will not be able to attend the Christmas Clean Up Challenge event.

We will update this requirement for each location as the Government advice changes and we thank you for your understanding. Participants are encouraged to start arriving from 9:30am onwards for registration and refreshments for a prompt 10am start.

Cancellation Policy

The Corporate Challenge Series are COVID safe events, and we will do our best to ensure that these events take place as scheduled. However, due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic unfortunately we can’t guarantee that every event will go ahead. If we must make the difficult decision to cancel an event due to COVID-19, each team will be notified and CVA will endeavour to reallocate your team’s participation to another similar event, if one is available.

If participation cannot be reallocated to a similar event within a reasonable timeframe, the registration cost will be converted into a donation to support CVA as a charity and the hard work and planning that went into creating the best experience possible for our corporate volunteers.

The Winners

There will be a winning team in each challenge location and the winners will receive Australian Geographic subscriptions and participation certificate to acknowledge their achievement.

An overall National winner for the challenge will be announced after the event and they will receive a CVA Wild Homes Challenge trophy, made by Wathaurong Glass.
