Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA): 40 years of making a difference

CVA is Australia’s leading conservation organisation, empowering people to take action for nature since 1982. We aim to have impact at scale by focusing on biodiversity restoration; the health of the ocean, wetlands, and rivers; and on strengthening climate resilience.

On-ground volunteering

Tens of thousands of people have taken action for nature with CVA to restore Australia’s biodiversity and build climate resilience.

From developing sustainable and cool neighbourhoods with our Urban Shade Forests initiative, to rejuvenating our ecosystem through the Revive our Wetlands project, to aiding communities in disaster recovery with The Recovery Rangers program, or even our nature restoration and resilience projects, there are numerous initiatives in which you can participate!

Conservation at your fingertips

We’d love for everyone to help. But we know that it’s not always easy to find time to volunteer with us, so we’ve created ways for you to take action anywhere, anytime. We use digital methods, like our CVA Community app, so that everyone can take part and contribute to biodiversity conservation. We want to create a group of Nature Stewards who want to help improve nature in their areas and beyond.

What you will love about the CVA Community app:

  • It is free!
  • Connect with other nature lovers.
  • Personalise your conservation journey to suit where you live, what you care about, or your level of experience.
  • Access 40 years of conservation knowledge through fun and engaging videos, tutorials and resources.
  • Monitor your impact and be rewarded for your nature stewardship!
  • Take action ANYTIME, anywhere:
    • Build a Nature Block in your backyard and help us build back nature!
    • Reduce your own waste footprint with the SeaToSource Plastic Waste Challenge!
