Taking action for one of the world’s most solvable environmental problems

#SeaToSource supports people around the country to take action on one of the world’s most solvable environmental issues – ocean litter.

Why focus on ocean litter?

The litter in our waterways and oceans is around 60-95% plastic which we know has disastrous impact on the environment and the animals that call these places home.

So, we’re committed to reducing the amount of plastic litter entering our creeks, rivers and oceans

The great Southern Reef

#SeaToSource focuses on 8 waterways which flow into The Great Southern Reef – a huge series of connected reefs that extend around Australia’s coastline, from Moreton Bay, Queensland to Kalbarri in Western Australia.

The Great Southern Reef is home to a wide variety of plants and animals found nowhere else on the planet, and it’s in our own backyard.

From the Sea to the Source

#SeaToSource focuses on where litter starts its journey, encouraging us all to find ways to eventually make beach clean-ups a thing of the past.

It starts with each of us, and our relationship to our waterways and oceans.

Together we’ll head upstream, working with communities along waterways to identify and reduce pollution in our towns and cities. CVA is running design and innovation challenges to support you and your community to find ways to stop litter at its source.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government.

Nature Ambassadors

We look forward to 2023 as we embark on the next Nature Ambassadors program to help everyday people support their community to take action for nature.

How does it feel to be part of the solution (not the pollution)?

Our volunteers at Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia have their say as to why they’re choosing to take action for the ocean.
