We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to lead teams of volunteers on our conservation programs, working in both local and remote locations in the Ballina region, and to carry out bush regeneration activities. As a CVA Team Leader, you will be responsible for the safety, welfare and supervision of volunteers doing practical conservation work, ensuring our volunteers enjoy a positive project experience whilst working within the boundaries of occupational health and safety requirements. This position includes travel to a range of project locations where you will stay on site for periods of time whilst completing projects. Our major programs include a range of practical activities to protect threatened species, repair wetlands, plant trees and maintain walking trails and the like. Our projects range from single day activities to larger projects of 10 days’ duration.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in working with community groups
- Certificate III in Conservation & Land Management (or equivalent)
- Full driver’s licence (mandatory)
- Knowledge and experience in the application of OHS policies and procedures
- A sound knowledge of practical conservation activities
- Excellent people management and training skills
- Solid organisational skills including time management
Preferably, candidates should hold Senior or Level II First Aid, Chemical Certificate, Defensive Driving Certificate and have an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
This position would ideally suit a local candidate and preference will be given to applicants already living within the region.
