Conservation Volunteers Australia Perth office facilitates Chevron Aboriginal Conservation Training programs for indigenous participants looking to get experience in the conservation and land management sector, as well as our Better Earth programs for volunteers.
We are looking for an applicant who has experience managing Indigenous people and can provide mentoring and support throughout the program. The participants undertake training in Conservation Land Management accredited units of competency and other tickets such as first aid and white card. Training support is given to the Team Leader by the WA Training Coordinator.
For success in this role, you will need:
- Experience working with or managing Indigenous people
- knowledge and experience in the application of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures
- sound knowledge of practical conservation activities
- excellent people management and training skills
- good organisational skills
- the ability to complete simple reports in a timely manner
- training experience would be highly regarded
Essential Qualifications & Attributes:
A full Driver’s licence, Provide First Aid Certificate, Defensive Driving certificate and a National Police Record Check and Working with Children Check are essential to ensure the safety of our volunteers. Conservation Volunteers will provide training to Level 3 standard in an OH&S subject for the successful applicant.
Due to the nature of the program and its delivery to Aboriginal persons, it is highly desirable to recruit a person of Indigenous descent.
