Each three hour session starts with a safety briefing and session overview, followed by a warm up before getting into the day’s tasks. Mid-session you will have a break for refreshments and a healthy snack. Activities will continue until it is time to cool down before wrapping up the session. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the tranquil settings with a like-minded group of people as you go at your own pace – take it as easy or make it more challenging, it’s up to you!

This program is made possible through funding from SA Health: Office for the Ageing, and in partnership with the City of Adelaide Council.

Start Date: 02/08/2017

Duration: Every Wednesday for 14 weeks

Start Time: 10:00am

Join us at Wirraninthi (Park 23) in the Adelaide City Park Lands for some fun and gentle exercise outdoors as you help us to transform and restore this beautiful green space in the south-west corner of the city. Wirraninthi means to ‘become transformed into a green, forested area’, a name that reflects the efforts of the City of Adelaide Council to re-invigorate this park through extensive indigenous plantings, the establishment of perennial wetlands and the construction of a Kaurna food and medicine trail.

Our program will be undertaken in the section of Wirraninthi south of the West Terrace Cemetery, accessed from Anzac Highway, with our conservation activities further contributing to the restoration of this part of the Park Lands, by removing invasive species, undertaking surveys, and possibly planting native vegetation. This site is beautiful, with plenty of shade and filled with the sound of birds calling.
